Tall Guy Racing |

Here you will find the exciting adventures of the Tall Guy and his Ford Falcon as he battles against the horribly evil Holdens, tries to steer clear of the fiendish Fredrick Fender-Bender and does his best to avoid the merciless Mickey Mechanical-Breakdown.

After getting the rollcage, seats and harness homologated, installing and wiring up a couple of hairdryers as demisters, remounting the sun visors, fixing the horn relay and then fixing the hi-beam relay that I broke while fixing the horn relay and getting some part of the steering / suspension replaced, the Falcon finally has a WOF! Yay!

Tallguyracing.com has finally been visited by the GoogleBot. If you now google "tall guy racing" (include the quotes), or tallguyracing you get this website as the first result. Same for Google Images. Yahoo! and the evil MSN have also found this site, but no one uses them so who cares.
The rollcage is finally here:

Huge thanks to Bjorn, who helped me build it (actually, he pretty much built it, while I just stood around, passed him tools and held things in place). There are a whole heap more photos.
The rollcage is coming...

Slightly new look for the website. Do you like it?
I had some fun on Labour weekend. You have no idea how hard it was to get this photo...

After being down for about a month, the Tall Guy Racing website is back. I'm sure you all missed it very much. The problems resulted from the domain name expiring and being in Jarom's name. While being very helpful, he is on the other side of the world and can be difficult to get hold of. We are still trying to transfer it into my name, but meanwhile it has been renewed.
An update! Finally! Yes, I have just completed a big update of all the events that I have done lately. There are the usual event write ups and photos. I am also hoping to get a video of me doing the autocross at Bay Park here. Stay tuned.
The Falcon has had its radiator reconditioned. Apparently it was very blocked. Now that it has been sorted out I should have no more problems with the Falcon overheating. Thanks to Dion at Coombes & Rennie Radiator Specialists for doing that.
If you are a geek and know the difference between Firefox and Internet Explorer then check this out. Its very amusing, but not in any way related to racing.
Some very cool action photos from the ClubSport Champs have been added here. Thanks to Steve Phipps for those.
Today the Falcon gets fitted with and extra idler pulley for the power steering belt. Hopefully, this will once and for all stop the problem of the power steering belt coming off all the time.
The motorsport season is now in full swing (see Upcoming Events). There are heaps of events on and that means not much time for updating silly websites...
The Tall Guy has a new email address:
fordfalconracer
This website has had some major changes over the last few weeks. It is now properly hosted by the good people at www.godaddy.com (no more Yahoo adverts). I have also changed all the pages to use PHP. You will not notice any difference, except that the files in the address bar now end with .php instead of .html, but it will make it much easier for me to update the website.
On the Falcon side of things, the windscreen has been replaced as it had a crack that 'grew'. That also meant that the windscreen banner had also to be replaced (wouldn't want the Falcon to feel naked would we?) The power steering belt has also been replaced and this will hopefully prevent it falling off every five minutes. Adding a carefully placed extra idler pulley will provide a more permanent solution, but that will have to wait for a while.
Look out for a combination shift light / rev limiter / kill switch unit to be fitted soon. This will be designed, built and fitted by the Tall Guy himself.
I have finally tracked down some 17x8 mags that fit the Falcon. Unfortunately, two of the tires will need replacing before the mags can be 'permanently' fitted to the Falcon. The above photo was from a 'test' fitting. The question now is should the Tall Guy go for the standard 235/45/17 at the rear or the slightly wider 245/40/17? Toyo Proxies 4 or Toyo Proxies T1-S? Stay tuned for the next exciting episode of 'The Tall Guy Gets Some New Tires' - coming soon.
(A bit later...)
Well, the 245/40/17s were $60 a tires more than the 235/45/17s. That is a lot for just 10mm of extra tread so I went for the 235/45/17s. The Proxies 4s were recommended to me as having the same grip as the T1-Ss, but better wear, so I went for them.
The mighty Falcon now sounds like a mighty Falcon. It has been fitted with a 2.5" Mandrel bent exhaust system with a single S-bend muffler and no resonator. Thanks to ProFlow for doing that.
