Recently, Microsoft released their beta version of Windows Live. The website looks suspiciously like Google's Start page, but that's another story. When I looked at the web site with Firefox (arch-enemy of Internet Explorer and Microsoft) this is what I got:

Firefox displays displays Windows Live with too much problems.
Firefox displays displays Windows Live with too much problems.

The thing to notice here is that although the website has detected Firefox and claims that support is coming soon, the page looked okay and it was also almost fully functional. The only problem was that the 'hide sidebar' was not positioned correctly and as a result was not accessable. Overall, not really a big deal.

So what happened when I tried to use Microsoft's very own Internet Explorer to access the site? This happened:

Internet Explorer has a problem displaying Windows Live.
Internet Explorer has a problem displaying Windows Live.

Oh dear. Well, I have enough problems with my own website without trying to debug someone else's, so I clicked No. Then I got:

Internet Explorer has another problem displaying Windows Live.
Internet Explorer has another problem displaying Windows Live.

Oh dear, oh dear. I had no inclination to start defining 's', so I clicked No. Finally I got what I was after:

Internet Explorer finally displays Windows Live.
Internet Explorer finally displays Windows Live.

These errors wouldn't be so bad except that they reoccured everytime I did something. Expand a category - no I don't want to debug, no I don't want to debug. Move a panel - no I don't want to debug, no I don't want to debug. Click here, there or anywhere - no I still don't want to debug, no I still don't want to debug. This made the whole website hugely annoying to use and I ended up going back to Firefox just to explore it.

Microsoft have now fixed both the 'hide sidebar' issue with Firefox and the debug messages with Internet Explorer. The site also no longer claims that support is coming when viewed with Firefox. As hard as it is to believe, this presumably means that Firefox is supported. I can't see that lasting...
